Chinese new year dinner - RM1000++
Current mood:
amused
last
tuesday night, i went for the malaysian night musical rehearsal. I
don’t have any significant role, just a nameless character A, whose job
is to dance, and sing with everyone else. After practising, me, a few
chinese peeps, and some other fellow malaysian went to Bangkok Cafe. A
cafe, which ambiance is rather classy for the chinatown of newcastle.
It was suppose to be a get together dinner for the chinese new year
night.
I had tomyam, and nasi putih, and nasi goreng. Didn’t
order any drink, other than tap water. Yup, the tap water in the UK is
regarded as clean and safe to be drank. The tomyam was tasty, so do the
other food. However, nothing beats the real Malaysian food. Mabel, a
burmese girl was happy too (i can see how much that girl misses her
burmese tomyam). Everyone was happy as well. It’s been quite a while,
since everyone eat some asian cuisine. We laugh, and talk, and and
cam-whore, and laugh, and eat, and laugh, and flirt, and oh yeah. Have
i mentioned that we laugh? It was a good night.
Then, came the
bill. It was a true terror for me. The total price 145quids. yup.
seratus empat puluh lima pound. Which in any malay dialect is known as
Ringgit Malaysia Seribu Lima Belas (1015). for 14 people.. Huiks,
terkejut beruk gak la. I know, in the UK the price is considered as
acceptable, tapi seriously, that made me miss home even more. With
seribu ringgit, i can easily treat around 55 people at mamaks, 30 ppl
at some kedai nasi campur, and 20 people at a posh restaurant. hu hu
hu…
